Stepping from the role of writer to author is a very hard transition for many writers. Writing, in general, is a solitary profession with just us, our research or imagination, and our preferred writing tool — in today’s world, that is often a laptop.

As writers, we don’t have to interact with a soul if we don’t want to. Then . . . we either find a publisher or self-publish, and our world changes drastically. All of a sudden, people are throwing around words like social media, websites, marketing, and if we’re new to all of this, our heads begin to buzz. Let me help still the buzz a bit and give you some easy steps to help you transition and begin to plan your success as an author. Simply put, there is some basic information that you must think about and gather before you begin to even venture into the world of marketing.
