Booksellers are interested in bringing revenue into their business, and they are going to go with products that will do that for them. There are definitely retailers like Amazon who will list every published book, but they do not automatically emphasize any particular book. Their algorithms will search out book titles and authors’ names via social media, etc. to identify strong platforms. Those are the books that will rise in the ranks on Amazon’s sites. Or, authors can advertise (or sponsor) their titles, which will help with placement on a page. But it is reader demand for a book that will help skyrocket it on Amazon, or with other retailers for that matter.

There are several things you can do to drive readers to Amazon to buy your book. Posts on social media about your book should always have a “buy link” in them. It’s a good idea to not put both an Amazon link and a bookstore link in one email. Bookstores are not very friendly when it comes to Amazon. When you’re concentrating on sales with social media, emphasize one market at a time.
