I don’t think many of you need an introduction to YouTube. It’s been around for a long time, it’s enormously popular, and for many people it’s the first (maybe even the only) place they go to check out online videos. So, it’s a good platform for promoting things… like books and your author brand.
One author who’s done a good job of this is Mark Steven Porro. Here are a couple of examples:
You don’t need a YouTube account to watch videos on the platform, but you do need one to post videos. And creating an account is free and easy. YouTube is owned by Google, so if you already have a Google account (for Gmail or something else), you probably also have a YouTube account (or are perhaps just one click away from launching one).
For those of you who don’t have an account, I’m not going to get into a step-by-step procedure for how to set one up. I’m confident you can figure that out. But I will highlight some key features and YouTube terminology for when your account is ready to go.
